I want to bring up an issue that I think needs to be discussed and try to find a solution. I am quite sure there was something wrong with the lights on Saturday at Denton. That has always been one of my favorite tracks, it hooks good, they are nice they take good care of us and that is why it is our home track. On Saturday I am sure there was something wrong with the lights on the starting line. There was many .040-.080 redlights on a Pro Tree? How does that happen? None of our cars react fast enough to go that red on a Pro Tree. There was a lot of .350 to .500 or worse lights on a Pro Tree. How does that happen? The cars do run better and react a little faster in really good air like that but in my case I had pulled a bunch out of it and added weight so much so that my car only ran a 5.09 on the 5.05 index. My first run I went .017 red. Wow! That was a surprise so I removed all of the shims on my transbrake button and it should have went .030-.040 green but I made sure it could not possibly go red. Then I staged real shallow and kept my foot on the brake to keep it from rocking or anything. But what ever I was not going to go red. Stage, see yellow lights and Bam it went red! Also there were many .350 to .500 or worse lights by others. I am not going to say it can not happen but there was an awful lot of those lights.
Did anyone else notice the problem?
What do we do if it ever happens again?
How can that happen? Condensation or fog on the lens? Was it something to do with cold air and heat from sunlight?
The very integrity of our sport is defendant on accurate timing and I do not think we got it here. One time there was some goofy lights at the Motorplex and we later found out there was an ant bed there that was just high enough to mess them up sometimes. One big race there was a frog blocking the light. I do not know what happened or why here but I do know something was wrong and it effected our points and Championships that we all work so hard for.
