Great home video from the 1972 PRO National Challenge from Tulsa Intl Raceway. This was a national meet organized by Don Garlits and the Professional Racers Organization to protest the low payouts from NHRA at the time, this one ran during the same weekend as the NHRA Indy Nationals. The PRO National Challenge events would run again in '73 in Tulsa then moved to NY National Speedway on Long Island in '74, all AHRA sanctioned events. I believe the '73 and '74 events were not run on top of the NHRA Indy Nationals but a week prior. This is a nice 30 minute video with some great pit shots and action from what looks like two days including the final eliminations. Tacked on the tail end is a bit of one of the AHRA Grand American series events from Tulsa.

Dgraves,
i was there in Tulsa at the PRA race in 1972. Thanks for capturing me in my 1965 chevell. Near the end of the video there is a blue with white hood and trunk lid with a red stripe down the middle 65 chevell. if you look close you can see my name on the door Dale McKee. Lots of fun in that old car. i quit drag racing 1980 and sold everything. You may recognise me now in NE 1 driving and tuning a black altered Harpo"s Toy owned by Richard DeLamatyr. SEE YOU AT THE DRAGS.
