It's the spring of 1973 and the IHRA Longhorn Nationals would be the last drag races to be held Dallas Intl Motor Speedway in Lewisville. The Top Fuel final would have to be 're run' because a previous handicap was in the tree when the top fuel drivers Leroy Goldstein and Vic Brown staged up. Vic left on the green for his lane but Leroy waited as his green did not come on at the same time. Having to re run the final created a bit of drama and the Creitz and Dill dragster driven by Brown out of Oklahoma did not return and forfeited that chance for the title and the Candies & Hughes dragster from Louisiana with Goldstein at the wheel would take the win and this would become the last pass down the DIMS quarter mile. Goldstein was pulling double duty this weekend and also was the runner up in the Funny Car final in the Candies & Hughes Plymouth Funny Car. I snapped this photo of the final pass at DIMS.
