The SHRA staff has adjusted the "Nostalgia Bracket" class to include any 1979 or earlier bodied car including door cars, front engine dragsters, altereds, roadsters, rods or gassers. Electronics are permitted, including delay boxes and trans-brakes. This adjustment was made to broaden the range of nostalgic bodied cars into the class. This adjustment will be in effect at our next event, July 6th at NSD as well as the Gamblers Race July 5th! Feel free to contact SHRA class representative Max McGlothin with any questions at Heathensracing@hotmail.com or 214-796-8977

JMO, I personally think this will be a great addition to the SHRA, If your going to run 2 bracket classes why wouldn't you want an elect. and no elect. class? No I don't think that electronics should be added in the other classes but I think this adjustment will be good for car count and maybe eventually get SHRA to another level. I do know that we already have 3 more cars [maybe more] coming from our area alone. Mostly due to the rules changes!

I know we cannot make everyone happy but we have had enough interest in this change that it had to be done. After the first event and the support that we received in the Hot Rod class vs the Nostalgia class we had to come up with a solution. There just is not enough of the originally classified cars in the area to support the class and that is not good for the racers, the fans, and the series.
I know delay boxes are not "nostalgic" however the cars that are equipped with them are. That's what the nostalgia series is all about. Showcasing the cars of the era. I have had numerous calls of support for this change and I hope the July 6th race is the start of a bigger and better SHRA! If anyone has any questions or concerns my contact information is posted on the original post and please do not hesitate to call!

I have also received numorous calls about the electronics and it seems to me for this organization to grow it is a necessary adjustment. I personally would rather try to get all the adjustments made in the first season, It allows us to make adjustments early and get rules, classes and other procedures done early so future seasons aren't bogged down with changes. It is IMPORTANT for racers to give feedback so all this can be finalized and not be making changes into the 3rd and 4th seasons. It just opens the door for more racers to enjoy a less expensive racing venue.

With the previous adjustments to the indexes, most if not all of the cars were right at the NE 3 index. It made more sense for the future of the SHRA and the racers involved to make the changes made. Altereds, front engine dragsters and roadsters now have the option of 2 classes to choose from. The cars with the ability to remove the delay box can actually run two classes.

That is what we are striving for, To provide a fun race for as many racers as possible. Unfortunately we can't provide a venue for every individual so we cater to the majority. Your other options include regular bracket programs provided by all the race tracks in the area, the 2 or three other Nostalgia events in the area during the year, Hot Rod Reunion events at Tulsa, Bowling Green and Bakersfield or Texas Muscle Car events a couple of times a year. Sorry it ruined the class for you, but you won't know until you try. Either way we wish you the best in what ever you decide to do.

i may still go to denton but do`nt know if i`ll run. i am not dumb enough to know my no elect car is going to run with all the box cars. if they set all them little numbers to 0 . i may run . just when ya thought this shra group was about to catch on . i saw a lot of confusion at temple and now i know why.

Just got back from Bowling Green and I will be making a trip to Tulsa for their race, by the way you forgot Ardmore. That's one of your races right? They don't seem to need "local box racers" to make a show. Guess I'll get a free day to get ready for a trip to Pennsylvania for a race at Beaver Springs. How many of your "box racers" will go that far for fun?

Nope, Didn't forget Ardmore, the 2 races they have annually and the SHRA race are the other Nostalgia events in the area. Most racers don't need to go to Beaver Springs Pa to have fun, they just enjoy what is offered inthe area. "Me" enjoy your trip and good luck.

Glad to hear about the adjustment. I had decided not to run the rest of the SHRA events after the first race just because my car is a lot more consistant with the Transbrake. At the first race I was asked to run in the NO. E. class which was ok, I just didn't enjoy it as mush as running the car the way it was set up to run.
We'll see you guys this weekend.

I will be there both Friday and Saturday this weekend and I was at ennis. Unfortunately I had a race to attend myself during the first Northstar race, but I was still heavily involved during the race. The message board is a great tool but it is not the main line of communication that majority of racers use. I have had many calls and emails since Friday night with both positive feedback and concerns. Myself and the rest of the SHRA committee believe this is the best decision possible for the series and racers.
We had 6 cars in nostalgia bracket at the first race, and we know of 3 that won't be at this event or will only run NE3. A series cannot sustain a class of 3 cars. We promote competition and fun in this series and 3 cars is hard to do that with. Our decisions will always be in the best interest of the racers and the series and I hope to see everyone interested in this series at Northstar this weekend!
