Dooley & Sons Hot Rod Shop in Magnolia, Texas returns in 2018 to the Southwest Heritage Racing Association as sponsor of the popular Nostalgia Eliminator Shootout for the Alkydigger classes. Making things even more interesting for 2018, Dooley & Sons representative Jeff Cameron has increased the payouts for both winner and runner up in all three classes of the Shootout.
For Shootout participants, qualifying matters at each of the SHRA events. It is the racers final qualifying position at each event in which they earn points to compete at the SHRA Championship Finals special Shootout event. Top qualifiers in each class grab 16 points at each event, followed by 1 point drops in each qualifying position thereafter. By the end of the seventh event of 2018, 8 cars will have qualified in each class to face off at the Finals to be held at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, TX on October 13th. Pairings for each class are based off final Shootout positions and then those Alkydigger racers face off in round 1 qualifying for the SHRA Finals. The quickest two winners in each class advance to the final round which is conducted in round 2 qualifying at the SHRA Finals. All six finalist are in the money with the runner ups in all three classes taking $250. Winners in NE2 and NE3 take a cool $750 for their efforts and the NE1 winner gets a whopping $1000 thanks to Dooley & Sons!
Last year, in the Alkydigger NE3 class, Doug Morrison grabbed the gold over Josh Moseley. NE2 saw the Shootout backer take his own money when Jeff Cameron eliminated Mike Caknupp. NE1 found the popular 'Dragon Slayer' '57 Chevy funny car in the final and take the money over 2017 SHRA NE1 Champ Tommy Drozd.
