Just one Question. When the rules Committee was thinking about changing the indexes they solicted imput from the racers, so when they decided to change the concept and allowing electronics into the Nostalgic Bracket class it was decided by the rules committee in a 48 hr period without imput from the current racers in the class. I am just wondering where the influenance came from?

This has been a topic of discussion since the SHRA was created. We had alot of racers in the area wanting to support this series but can not remove delay boxes. This was brought to light before the first event. We had these same racers bring these concerns up over the last week, and even more contacted us trying to figure out a way to race with the SHRA. We wanted to see what the series had to offer with a true gasser type of class at the first event which is why this change was not done in february or march. We realized that type of class it is just not sustainable in this market. I know a couple racers are upset with the decision we chose to make but this series is young and growing and if we were to make a change for the future of this series it had to happen now. I hope you guys continue to support the SHRA and everything we have to offer. Allowing nostalgia era cars with electronics to showcase in this series is something that was missing and I am looking forward to seeing everyone who has given us their feedback this weekend!
We will have a bracket racers drivers meeting before first TT up by the concession stand to answer any questions or concerns!

OK, The input put in by racers that run the series and the racers that would like to run the series is exactly why the changes were made. It wasn't spur of the moment and has been under diuscussion since the first race in Denton. The closer we got to the second event of both bracket classes the more racers let us know what they would like to see so they could run with this group. Timing is not always perfect, but we do have the racers interest in mind and strive to make this a fun and affordable race series. My email address is on my profile if you have any questions, ideas or suggestions don't hesitate to ask or suggest.

Rick that is not necessarly a true statement. Max had admitted it was made in the "Last 48 Hours" on a post on Voy 96963.com on Friday. As far as the feed back from the racers running the class. NOT one time was it ever brought up at an event I know cause I have attended all the events so far. Also NOT one time was it ever mentioned on the SHRA board asking for feedback on the subject. Yet when the SHRA wanted feedback on the changing of the index times, it was asked on the SHRA message board for feedback and the racers responded. I call it Like I see it and if it smells like crap it must be crap So tell me when did all this conversing take place with "all the racers" who had the input and feedback? Another thing when the SHRA decided to change the index they gave at least a Month for the change to take place. Now why did they only give a weeks notice on the change of the electronics? ? Chris do care to jump in and comment since this is your series?

Ok Jon, The discussion about the electronics class has been going on since the first race, See vmr2 post in previous thread. The racers that have contacted us have done via phone conversations, private email and have come by my home and shop to talk about this. I personally would rather talk to someone face to face rather than hide behind the keyboard with an anounymous name like "me". Max may have misworded his statement or maybe could have said it a little better but in the last few days there has been a lot of questions fielded by the SHRA staff. I guess since this race has been promoted more than any other because of the OFAA and pro mods a lot of interest has been generated. Chris shared with us today about an email from a racer in Houston that had some ideas. Again as you and I talked on the phone we are trying to make all the adjustments and changes within the first year so we can concentrate on racing in the future seasons. You, I and everyone else knows that we can't make everyone happy but we as an organization will try our hardest to make the majority happy. You have my phone # and email address(see profile)contact me anytime. That goes for anyone that has a question or suggestion, if I don't know the answer I will found out for you and get back to you ASAP.

Rick, Thank you for your response. I know you as well as you know me. We both want what is best for the sport and this series. Like I said, I felt blindsided and betrayed by an organization that I had supported from the begining. In the past the SHRA had ask for input on any changes, and now it comes across that this change was made behind closed doors in secret. I am not going to complain about it any more, it is what it is. My team got screwed in the hunt for a championship by the rule change and I cannot do anything about it but sit back and take it... and by the way I have no idea who "ME" is either.... We will continue to race just not sure it what series or class. See you this weekend...

Jon, Thank you for your candor. As we discussed earlier on the phone there was a proposal suggested by me to reward you and your team for your efforts but you didn't seem interested. Have you changed your mind? You are #1 in the Nostalgia bracket class after 1 race and 2 more to go. You are #3 in NE3 after 3 races with 3 races to go. Don't sell your team or yourself short and keep working towards a championship or maybe 2.

I know someone is going to say this is not a fair comparison, but it is reality. The recent changes in nostalgia eliminator class are really small in comparison to the NHRA Comp Eliminator guy that has thousands of hours and tens of thousands of dollars in his combination only to have NHRA deem it illegal or he has to add weight or other changes to his combination because he has been too successful. Now that would reallly SUCK!!!

Rick, there is some simularity, we have hundreds of hours instead of thousands and we have thousands of dollars instead of 10s of thousands of dollars. Also with the exception that they make alot more money than we do and thier sponsers expect them to make the nessary changes because that's what they get paid to do My sponser is out of my back pocket. and that dictates what changes are made and when. As far as the reward for our team that was offered we discussed and decided that any reward / Championships will be earned and not given due to rules change thanks but no thanks See you this weekend...

When I stated these changes happened in the last "48 hours" it was stated that way because on 6/27 the flyer was posted on that particular forum. On 6/28-29 we made the change. I stated that to make sure the racers knew that we understood we made a change AFTER the initial promotion for this particular event(within that 48hrs of initial post). Maybe my words are being read to literal, the same for the crosstalk discussion. My posts are being taken out of context and not being understood fully apparently. Where I stated that we would make the decision on cross talk at the event was stated in that specific way for a reason. We will not change a rule the day of the event, thus on my other comment as stated "change" was in quotations because you can only "change" a rule or decision if its already been in place, which there was no decision made to be changed in the first place.
Jon I have yet to be contacted by you, but you have been in contact with other commitee members who they look to me as the bracket race coordinator to make these decisions. I have been contacted by other racers throughout the week with both suggestions, praise, and concerns and each of them have left with a little better understanding. I have posted my email and number for you to get ahold of me on multiple occasions and can't imagine why I haven't gotten a phone call or direct email from you with all these concerns? i dont mind getting flammed on message boards, it comes with the territory of Anmonomous fourms and I have been in or around this bracket racing sport for 22 years. I have seen and heads it all! Unfortunately Jon I can't change what's already been changed since that change was for the benefit of the series. I know you guys had a great start to the season and hope you have continued success in the SHRA! I will be at the track Friday afternoon until close Saturday, if you'd like to discuss this further. My phone and email are open all week and I will be available to discuss and mingle with all SHRA racers this weekend!

i haven't been to one of your races yet, had planned on coming down to Denton from the Tulsa Oklahoma area, the nostalgic bracket class sounded really good class for me, since I am running a gasser built in the mid 60's but I cant compete with delayed boxes and trans brakes. im still thinking about coming, guess I will have to run hotrod. it would be nice to see a class that was year based from 66 and below body style, but if u don't have the people to support it I guess we will just run what u have
